Driver Education, July 2013

Mike Roberts

Wow, July already! No worries, there are even more Diablo events in the second half of 2013.

This month (July 27th), Jeff Urnes and Ed Won will take us on a visit to The Racers Group. A tour to this nationally famous racing team it should be interesting stuff. See the Goodie Store for sign up details. [Or use the "Event Reg" button on the left side of this page.]

August 21st (please note the date change, time is still 6.30pm in Walnut Creek – venue TBC), we begin the countdown to our next track day with our acclaimed DE101/201 presentation. Come join us to hear advice and tips from the Diablo DE team and Instructors (no sign up needed).

September 5th we are at Thunderhill. The weather should be ideal and we will have the usual limited sized event with three run groups. Sign up is open at motorsportreg.com (click here for registration page). We will meet up the night before for check-in and no-host dinner at Casa Ramos from 6pm.

September 6th, the day after us, Hooked On Driving will be at Thunderhill for Derric’s Day – all proceeds go to The Prostate Cancer Foundation. Hang around after our day and join what is always a fun day for a good cause.

September 22nd, the Danville D’ Elegance will again close the streets of Danville for this terrific car show in support of care and treatment for Parkinson’s Disease. Last year, a bunch of Diablo Members entered and displayed our cars for the day. It costs you a donation to join in, but it’s tax deductible, check it out at Danville-delegance.org.

October we have a month off before the countdown to Laguna Seca. The DE101/201 session will be on Saturday morning, November 19th in Walnut Creek, starting at 9.30am.

Laguna Seca is ours on November 26th. Last year was the first Diablo outing to Laguna and it was a tremendous day. We will run the same format and sign-ups are already open on motorsportreg.com (click here for registration page) as this event sells out weeks in advance. No-host dinner and check in will be at The Embassy Suites in Seaside from 6pm.

The previous two days (11/24 + 25), our friends at Golden Gate Region will be at Laguna so again, here’s great opportunity to run two or even three days with PCA.

By the way, if you haven’t run a two day or more track event, then give yourself a treat. It’s fabulous for building experience and sharpening the skills. What’s better than a day of track driving fun....yep, two days!!!

See you at the track if not before...
