Someone once told me ― "You plan and then life happens!"  So our plans for the Pebble Beach weekend got cancelled, but thanks to Frank Duran the caravan to Carmel by the Sea took off on time. Our plans for Escape 2011, our vacation to New York in October, and our Rennsport plans are on hold. Jacquie has a very painful back problem and while we hope that it gets better before Escape it is not a sure thing. A big thank you to all who have sent her get well wishes.

Our 2012 election process is in full swing. Our Nominating Committee is doing a great job. They have lined up five members to run for the four open positions. Please contact Ingrid French, Luis Soler, or Tom Marinshaw if you are interested in running. I want to thank Dan Spisak for his work for the club. Dan has decided to resign from the board due to other commitments. Nancy Bocanegra has accepted the board‘s offer to replace Dan. Welcome to the board, Nancy.

The club‘s first Family Picnic was a great success. We had 70 members show up for free BBQ, bocce ball, games, and lots of fun. Many new members showed up and I want to thank all of you for welcoming our new members to the club. Satoshi Iwahashi and Elsie Lum did all the planning and prep and got a hand from Kay Maloy with the food prep. A special thanks to Brian Adkins who provided the Kobe Beef burgers and hot dogs. You really missed a treat if you did not make it to the picnic as the hamburgers were outstanding. Brian also organized a Friday night dinner at Tarpy‘s Roadhouse in Monterey for the Laguna Seca Historic Races. Everyone enjoyed the meal Jacquie and I are sorry that we missed it.

More good news; We are going to have a second monthly Pleasanton Breakfast. Dale Miller is putting together the details. We will have breakfast on the second and fourth Saturday of the month at Vic‘s in Pleasanton. We have had great turnouts in Pleasanton and this will give members an additional opportunity to meet. Thanks Dale.

Remember our September tours, the weather is wonderful and we have two local tours planned. Patrick Schmidt is leading a Tri-Valley Tour on September 10 from Vic‘s in Pleasanton. Phil Eskildsen and Rolly Smith are leading the Bosco Gimmick Rally/Tour on September 24 from the Buttercup Pantry in Walnut Creek. Why not do both!

Our next Board of Directors meeting is on Monday, September 12, 6:30 pm, at The Brass Door in San Ramon. It is open to all members and we would like to see you attend.

As always - Have fun and drive safely!
