Two important and related items need your attention this month. The Board has asked Ingrid French, Tom Marinshaw, and Luis Soler to be our Board of Directors Nominating Committee for 2012. There are four positions up for election in October and the committee will be asking you for candidates to fill these positions. Call me or one of the members of the committee if you are at all interested in serving on the board. I think it is important to understand that as a board member you are expected to take on a significant role in running the club. There is a need for various chairpersons and of course tour leadership and event hosting are also needed. I have decided not to run for the Board this election so that the club can build more depth in its leadership ranks. The club has lots of good news to report as well. The membership has broken the 1,000 member mark several months in a row. This means more money for the club from National and more members willing to attend events. Great work by Doug Wiebe, Membership Chairperson, has made this possible. Our July Treasurer‟s report is also very positive. The club's balance sheet is over $1,000 positive and I want to thank Kathy Soler for all her work putting our finances in order. August, September, and October are going to be big event months for the PCA. If you have never attended the Pebble Beach Concours and the six other car related events in and around Carmel by the Sea you should try it this year. Jacquie and I are leading a caravan down to Carmel on Friday, August 19. PCA National is putting on Legends of the Autobahn, a joint event with Mercedes and BMW. See our flyer for some of the other events. Just to be clear we are leading a caravan, not a tour. You need to make reservations for the events you would like to attend as well as hotel reservations. September means Escape 2011. PCA National is hosting a three day event in Flagstaff, Arizona starting on September 15. Members from all over the West Coast will be there but again reservations should have been made already. Jacquie and I will be attending and we hope to see you there. October means Rennsport IV. This joint PCA National / Porsche of North America event is coming to the West Coast for the first time ever. This is the most prestigious gathering of Porsche race cars and race drivers from the past. It's being held at Laguna Seca Raceway and will be open to the public. Again reservations and lodging need to be made in advance. Mark your calendars for our first Diablo Family & Newcomer Picnic on Sunday, August 28. Games, free food, and meeting other family members will be the order of the day, so bring family, friends, and the family SUV. You can leave the Porsche at home. We have many new members and hope you can join us for a fun filled day. Our next Board of Directors meeting is on Monday, August 8, 6:30 pm, at The Brass Door in San Ramon. It is open to all members and we would like to see you attend. As always - Have fun and drive safely! |

The month of July has flown by and Jacquie and I have missed more than our share of events. Our five year old grandson, Scott, is swimming and playing soccer so, just like 25 years ago, we are up to our water-wings in Saturday swim meets. They start early so we even missed a few Saturday morning breakfasts. See you all in Augus!
