Meet Ed Won
1. What first interested you in Porsche?
Porsche is a no compromise icon. All cars produced are sport cars, period. Highly mass produced cars like BMW and Mercedes don’t appeal to me. And I can’t afford their truly exceptional models. Every Porsche is truly exceptional. (Except for the VW V6 powered 1st Gen Cayenne, sorry.)
2. What was your first Porsche and why did you purchase it?
The performance drew me in initially, I love the off road capability. Yes, my first Porsche was the Cayenne. I had owned a Land Rover and was quite impressed with it’s off road capabilities, comfort and on road stability. Unfortunately, it was a lemon. I retained a lemon law attorney and went from lemon to pepper. The Cayenne was about as capable an off roader when outfitted with the proper options and I have [fitted them].

Meet Patrick Schmidt
1. How long have you been a PCA member?
I have been a member of the PCA for 25 years! In GE they called that the Quarter Century Club.
2. What first interested you in Porsche?
I was blown away by the PORSCHE 917s that raced in the Can Am Series at Donnebrook in Brainerd, Minnesota in 1972. Amazing! I also had several cousins on the East Coast that owned 911s. They cherished their Porsches. I became quite an admirer of Porsches.

The results are in! A big “Thank You” to all the members who made a decision to run. A special note of “Thanks” to Ingrid French and Tom Marinshaw for volunteering to be on the Nomination Committee and verifying the results. And, of course, we can’t forget to thank Steve Jones, our Webmaster, for developing, maintaining and extracting information from the electronic voting section of our web site.
Enough suspense. Here are the four (4) newly elected 2012 members of the Board of Directors:
- Satoshi Iwahashi
- Ingrid Plooy
- Lou Soler
- Doug Wiebe
These members will attend the December Board of Directors meeting and the “new” 2012 Board of Directors (made up of the remaining 5 members of the 2011 Board and the 4 new members) will select the new officers by the traditional method, a hip hop dance-off. [Just checking to see who's still reading. --Steve.] |
